----- Imagine you’re on a boat adrift on the ocean, taken out to sea by the current. You have no control over your speed or direction. Then you drop anchor. Even though the current keeps the water moving around you, you’re now grounded. You’re now connected and in control of your position. When life gets busy, you’re like the boat — taken by the current of tasks, projects, people and commitments. By integrating gentle anchoring practices into your daily routine, you can ground yourself instead of feeling like you're adrift, pulled by the...

I use my planner in a somewhat unconventional way. Instead of recording my task list (ie. a to-do list), I update it at the end of the day with my "done" list. It's actually very satisfying doing it this way. For my working task list, I've been using my A4 weekly planner. On Sunday nights, I sit down to prioritise tasks for the week and add to as needed daily. Of course birthdays, appointments, events and reminders all go in my planner as well. It must be the life documenter in me because I...

I've not chosen a word for the year, so this feisty little question is my 2021 sidekick. Do you put off doing things because: You think you don't know enough. You think you need more experience. You don't feel confident. You think you need to find more clarity. So my challenge to you (and myself!) is next time you have one of these thoughts, try asking yourself, what are you REALLY waiting for? Then decide on your next step, no matter how small it seems. Questions to ask yourself to help move you towards...

Is it possible that no amount of planning, reading, journaling, reflecting, online programs, free webinars (aka extra long promos) or big chats with your bestie will make you feel 100% ready to do “the thing”? Maybe it‘s not even about being ready. Maybe it’s about taking a leap of faith and BELIEVING you have the smarts to figure it out along the way? Almost every biggish pretty important thing in my life, I didn't feel ready or “qualified” for. Examples of a few of my real life non-readiness: my driving test (other drivers...

Who doesn't like a good declutter to kick off a new month? I'm talking about a kon mari of the digital variety. Digital decluttering helps me focus better. Warning: Do not use this as a procrastination technique! The trick is to start with a few easy things to build momentum. Here's a checklist to get you started on a speed digital declutter: Delete phone apps you no longer use and move all the ones you hardly ever use into a separate folder to free up screen space. Clear your computer desktop so that...

Have you ever wondered why you have your best ideas in the shower? Apparently when you're showering, you're in Theta state, which is also associated with daydreaming and deep meditation. So, when you're in the shower, you have the perfect conditions for stimulating creative thinking. 3 reasons why your best ideas come in the shower: 1. You're relaxed. You feel safe, comfortable and if you're lucky, you're kids aren't in there with you, so your mind is relaxed and free to wander, and zone out. 2. Your dopamine is flowing. When you're relaxed and feeling chilled, your...

A few years ago, we travelled interstate for a short getaway by the ocean with our little family. Being away from our everyday routine and spending time by the ocean made me feel like time had slowed down. It was very addictive. Feeling connected and present gives us the illusion that time is standing still, and it feels somewhat magical and amazing. As a mother with young children, I am very aware of how quickly the years roll by. One minute they are babies, next minute they are starting kindergarten, and before you know it, they...
